when my house was hiding

When I decided to hire a feng shui consultant, she arrived for our consultation and told me she almost couldn't find the house. The driveway was overgrown with trees and bushes, so the whole place was basically hidden from the road. I laughed, because of course it was.
At the time, I'd been doing all this inner work around wanting to feel more comfortable with visibility and fully showing up in my work and in my relationships, but my house was living out the exact opposite story.
Once I saw the connection, I couldn't unsee it. And I was immediately out in front of my house with the clippers.
As I was clipping, something powerful was happening. Yes, I was working with the act of cutting back the overgrown bushes as a practical/physical gesture, but it was also acting as a true energetic gesture of my willingness to be seen and fully show up for the life I’ve been given.
It reminded me of G.I. Gurdjieff, the early 20th-century mystic and teacher, and his teachings on the three centers of intelligence within each of us: the thinking center, feeling center, and movement center. In our Western culture, we are typically overly in the head center or the feeling center and we forget the movement center. Gurdjieff taught that the process of becoming awake and conscious to our lives begins with working with all three centers, bringing each one “online” and into harmony and balance with the others.
As I was out there with the clippers, it felt like something was clicking into place. I was bringing my inner aim into the outer world, turning a head‑idea into a felt sense and a lived reality in my body and my space. And I think this is one of the many special gifts of feng shui, and I’ve been a devoted student ever since.
So, what about you? Have you experienced the power of pairing an inner aim with an outer physical representation?
With care,
Brianna
P.S. And if you’re curious about the messages your home is quietly holding, feng shui consulting and space clearings are now part of how I work. I’d love to help!
